About this song
How to solve equations, in one rock anthem duet. The video keeps a balance scale on screen the whole time, so you can watch both sides stay equal as each step is sung, with every step written out underneath.
Verse 1 covers the equal sign as a balance, isolating the variable, inverse operations, and a full worked example (3x + 5 = 20). The pre-chorus drills the golden rule: whatever you do to one side, do to the other. Verse 2 covers the tricky ones: variables on both sides, distributing first, negative coefficients, and dividing variables. The second pre-chorus is all about checking your answer.
Made for grades 6-9. Lyrics are on screen and color-coded by singer (yellow and blue, white when they sing together).

Solve it: 4x − 7 = 21
Show the answer
x = 7. Add 7 to both sides (4x = 28), then divide both sides by 4.
